When we're deep down, in the midst of the ocean,
it's hard to get our parascopes up. More directly,
it's when we're bothered by all of those things
around in our social life that we tend to miss the
sunshine, and the sky, and everything else at the
surface. There's a song I hope you listen to. And
in that song, Gord asks, "When are you thinking of
dissapearing when there's nothing but heartache in
your social life?" Is it only at this point that
we come up for air and sunshine? I think maybe.
But also, that the clouds hide the sun most times
and, without rain, we prefer the cover of the ocean
anyway to the openess of being left alone without
a social circle (like a fish out of water perhaps).
And if we were fish, you and I, would we flop around
at the surface looking for that cool, blue, deep?
Or would we flap our gills and bake in the sun and
enjoy knowing that we're at the surface?
