But we shouldn't hear the roar of these waves and feel bad. That is, negativity was never meant for the things that surface, even when they're struggling in the midst of divisions about the good. (And here's where some feeling comes in). We can enjoy the ocean, the surface, (surfing), and the rain. And these minor surfacing thoughts are not meant to make you feel one way or another because you are (in fact) many different persons (and that's not meant to be metaphysical). That is, the "you" in this is you, but it's at the same time for many "you's" (just a minor point about reference).
This is phrasing that didn't work so well when I talked about friends and floods because there's room only enough for a few in a lifeboat, or on a plank of wood. But in the ocean, there's a bit more room for everything. And this means that, though there are feelings involved in the waves that push us, or suck us back under, that we needn't worry about anything in particular and we can just enjoy the state of our little oceans. And we should enjoy them because things are likely to change again and again with waves and feelings and people and feelings and you, and me, and everyone else.
Besides, we, all of us, are going to have to let things go. And that doesn't mean that we needn't feel about the things that drift away (or better, how we drift away from things) but that there are no anchors in this metaphor simile analogy of mixing water and broad spectrums of living. It just means that we need to try not to grab onto that water that's around us (we could try to push it, but that's for later) but move with it or let it drift by. Remember: waves are only bits of energy that move through water... it's not as if the water moves around that much (the current is different and hence why we need to listen). And on this, we can mark our feelings, about waves or anything else, but not force those feelings on the wave (it's more or less indifferent even if it is a person, I think) and so too we can enjoy the drama of waves and social circles and persons and smile for that (so no negativity).
